Why Choose Us
Why work with TebuSpace
Plenty of people can deliver a music workshop or produce a track. Here is what is different about having TebuSpace do it, and at the end of the page, when we are the wrong choice.

The difference
Six reasons organisations come back
Cultural knowledge that is lived, not researched
The African rhythmic traditions in this work were learned in the places they come from, socially and by ear. That difference is audible in a performance and obvious in a workshop. The material arrives with its context rather than with a citation.
One practice, not a portfolio of side lines
Performance, production, teaching and research are the same practice here. A workshop is designed by someone who performs; a lecture is given by someone who records. You are not booking a performer who also teaches a bit.
Built so everybody takes part
Sessions are designed from the least confident person in the room outwards. Groups with no musical experience, including SEND settings and groups who did not choose to be there, end up playing together, which is the whole point.
Academic and artistic in equal measure
Lecturing experience means a session can be pitched at a conservatoire cohort or a Year 4 class and land in both. It also means paperwork, learning outcomes and evaluation are not an afterthought.
Straightforward to work with
Written scope, fixed fees, riders and risk assessments sent early, and clear terms on rights and revisions before work starts. Administrators tend to notice this more than musicians do.
Genuinely collaborative
The TebuSpace Sessions format exists because the most interesting work happens when two traditions meet in a room. Co-programming with your local artists is welcomed rather than tolerated.
In practice
What that means for you
The same practice, read from four different sides of the table.
If you are a school or college
A session that works for a full class rather than the musical few, delivered by someone comfortable in front of a room, with the safeguarding and risk paperwork handled as part of the booking. Curriculum links where you need them, and a musical outcome your students can be proud of on the day.
Workshops for schoolsIf you are a venue, festival or promoter
A distinctive original set rather than a covers band, scaled honestly from solo to full ensemble so the music fits your room and your fee. Rider, stage plan and input list sent as soon as the date is confirmed, and a willingness to build something with the local artists on your bill.
Live performance & sessionsIf you are an artist, producer or director
A composer and producer in one person, so the intent behind an idea survives all the way to the master, plus access to players for the parts that need a human on them. Scope, fee, revisions and rights written down before anyone starts.
Music production & compositionIf you are a university or research team
A practitioner partner with genuine delivery experience, able to contribute to a bid, run the participatory element of a study and stand up in front of a lecture theatre to disseminate it. Practice-based research that has actually been practised.
Talks, lectures & research

Honest limits
When we are not the right choice
Any practice that claims to suit everyone is describing marketing rather than work. These are the three cases where the answer is usually no.
A wedding or party that mainly needs recognisable covers back to back is better served by a specialist function band. The set here is built on original material, and pretending otherwise would disappoint everyone.
A production with a genuinely immovable deadline inside a few days may not fit around existing performance and teaching commitments. Ask anyway, but you will get a straight no rather than a hopeful yes.
A single one-hour workshop expected to produce lasting change in a group with complex needs is not realistic. A series will do it; one session will not, and it is better to say so at the enquiry stage.
Ask the awkward questions
Budget, availability, whether your group is a good fit, all fair game at the enquiry stage. You will get a straight answer, including when the answer is no.
