Originals

TebuSpace Originals

Original projects created, produced or developed through the TebuSpace ecosystem: an album, a single composition, a research strand and a live series that keep feeding each other.

Four projects, deliberately different in form: one is a record, one is a single composition written for a friend, one is a research and workshop practice, one is a live series. They share a preoccupation rather than a format, what happens to music when it moves, and what happens to people when they make it together.

None of them was planned as a set. They accumulated, and the overlaps between them turned out to be the most productive part: material written for the album gets tested in a Session, a gift became a composition, and what a workshop reveals often ends up changing the record.

Where things stand

Now, developing, future

What is ready to explore today, what is taking shape, and what is still to come, so you can see where the space is heading.

  1. Now

    Ready and open.

  2. Developing

    Taking shape now.

  3. Future

Planned, and announced to the newsletter first.

The through-line

How they connect

Read in order, the four projects are the same question asked four ways.

  1. Sonic Refuge asks the question

What do we carry, set down and rebuild when we move? It asks it in composition, as a record rather than an argument.

  2. The Eternal Rhythm answers it for one person

A single piece on a gifted handpan, where memory and friendship become the material and the rhythm carries on.

  3. Sonic Rituals tests it on people

The same material, taken into rooms full of people who are not musicians, to find out what playing together actually does.

  4. TebuSpace Sessions puts it in front of an audience

Musicians from different traditions meeting live, with the conversation between them left audible and documented.
